Namaste. (Spirit in me bows to Spirit in you.)
When I was growing up spiritually at Ananda Village in the 1970’s I experienced a life transforming opportunity. Swami Kriyananda, a direct disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda, had started a meditation retreat and spiritual community called Ananda (Divine Bliss) and during those years the founding generation of members were gathered and magnetized into a spiritual family of souls that are dedicated to to living and sharing the Yoga teachings that Yogananda brought to the world and the application of those principles to every part of life.
One of the things that we discovered is that time spent in silent inner focus is essential for deepening one’s awareness of the inner life. At the same time, we also found that joyful interaction in fellowship and service brought balance and well-being to everyday life. Swami Kriyananda taught us through his own example how to bring the joy of the spiritual life into everyday activity while we seek ever deeper levels of inner attunement.
Kaivalya Hermitage is a place for experiencing and sharing this tradition of inner and outer life balance and because it is in its early stages of development it is very adaptable to the needs of those who attend. Rather than offering preplanned programs, the needs of each guest are discussed and from that point spiritual nature is allowed to take its course with adjustments made as life proceeds.
